La Vega Innova is not limited to a physical space. We also have a virtual headquarters through an online platform that allows startups to test new solutions in a real environment. Our physical headquarters are also located in San Fernando de Henares, in the CENCA and CENTER facilities of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food.

  • What is the “La Vega Innova” area?

    “La Vega Innova” is the name of the Innovation iHub of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, which includes, among other things, a global incubation and acceleration programme for start-ups, developed in collaboration with TELEFÓNICA DE ESPAÑA S.A.U. The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, through the iHub, is looking for disruptive technological solutions that contribute to the transformation and competitiveness of the business fabric, solving the business challenges of companies in the agri-food sector.

  • How long does the programme last?

    Participation in the La Vega Innova Incubation and Acceleration Programme lasts approximately 8-9 months, a period during which the maturity of technology-based projects in the agri-food sector is encouraged and promoted through the iHub incubation methodology, so that they can respond to pilot projects and test them in real environments.

  • Does the team have to move to the “La Vega Innova” space?

    The programme is semi-attendant. It includes face-to-face activities in the rooms provided by La Vega Innova and online activities. The organisation will facilitate the planning and modality of the activities as far in advance as possible.

  • How far along must the project be?

    To access the programme, it is necessary to have a business idea or a working prototype of a technological and/or innovative or disruptive product or service with real possibilities of being commercialised and marketed within one year for digital projects and up to five years for industrial projects.

  • Is it necessary to have a company to submit an application?

    It is not necessary as long as the eligibility requirements are met. For those projects that are not yet incorporated, it will include, among other things, the commitment to incorporate the company during the period of participation in the programme, confidentiality and intellectual property aspects.

  • How many members must the team have?

    At least one member of the team applying for the call must be personally, professionally and habitually dedicated, i.e. full-time and exclusively to the project for the duration of the programme.

  • Can more than one project be submitted per entrepreneur?

    Yes, more than one project can be submitted.

  • What are the criteria for evaluating projects?

    Both in the pre-selection phase and in the final selection, the following criteria will be used to evaluate the projects:

    • Team: the suitability and capacity of the entrepreneurial team to successfully complete the project will be tested, in particular their skills and knowledge, whether their training and/or experience is relevant to the needs of the project, and the degree of commitment of the founders to the project.
    • Innovation: it will be tested whether the project offers the market a clearly differentiated product that improves on existing solutions, as well as the use of the technology used by the project, with priority given to those that have their own differentiated technology.
    • Industry solution: the extent to which the project responds to the challenges of the agri-food industry and its real applicability will be tested..
    • Business: it will be tested whether the project has a clearly defined value proposition for a clearly identified target audience, the size of the target audience and the spending capacity of that audience. high market potential, scalability and economic and financial viability of the project will be positively tested.
  • Can I change my application?

    Once completed and submitted, the application is finalised and cannot be changed. We recommend that you do not click “Submit” until you have reviewed the application and confirmed that all information is correct..

  • How will selected projects be notified?

    The selected projects will be notified electronically to the email addresses provided during registration by the team members.
